Melian was involved in starting the first Haringey Play Association in the 1970s which organised nineteen summer and Easter holiday play schemes for children across Haringey .They were supported by local communities and were free of charge . After twelve years we handed this to the local authority who set up the Community Play Service. I am also Chair of London Play , trustee of Markfield and governor of two Haringey primary schools and Pembury House Nursery School and Children’s Centre in Tottenham. My background is in education – I taught Maths and French for many years. My interests are children of all ages , their welfare , their rights and of course their opportunities for play.
